Activision Blizzard has been sued for sexual harassment of its workers after a lengthy investigation has gathered enough material to point the finger at the video game giant.
Constant sexual harassment, unequal pay, and retaliation against Activision Blizzard workers by the same company. That is what the company’s employees suffer according to the lawsuit filed by the California Department of Housing and Fair Employment.
After not a few companies have been accused of this type of intolerable practices in recent months, one more has joined the queue of internal and external investigations that the large developers in the sector face.
Activision Blizzard has been being investigated for two years by the state agency until it has been found that the company discriminates against its workers in a good number of areas and that its management has failed in aspects such as the prevention of discrimination.
A Bloomberg Law article noted how the plaintiff agency has reported various highly degrading behaviors towards company women by male workers.
They drink large amounts of alcohol as they make their way through various cubicles in the office and often behave inappropriately with female employees, the report noted.
It is also noted that male employees play video games during the working day, delegating their responsibilities and tasks to female workers and making jokes of a sexual nature and rape.
In addition, a practice that is too listened to in this type of case is also indicated, such as the null possibility of promotion within the company for women due to the mere fact of becoming pregnant or the constant criticism of their motherhood.
But there is still more. The lawsuit points to a really tough episode. The report states that an Activision employee even killed herself while traveling with one of her supervisors. The lawsuit states that this employee had suffered deep sexual harassment before her death, mentioning the distribution of nude photographs at a company party.
