Sony has just released a new PS3 update. The Sony console received firmware 4.88, which this time is not a simple “stability improvement”. The corporation took care of supporting new films.
Until recently, Sony announced its intention to cut off PlayStation 3 from PlayStation Store, but the corporation has changed its mind and players will be able to continue buying new games from the PS Store on the older Japanese platform.
The company has just surprised again, because the PS3 has received a new firmware (4.88), which takes 200MB and according to the official information – the manufacturer took care of the “overall system performance”.
However, the players got to more specific details. Sony engineers took care of “system enhancements” that probably relate to the new console security, but the company also updated the encryption keys for the Blu-ray player to make the newer movies run on PlayStation 3.
As you can see, Sony still cares about the older platform, which, although it has its best years behind it, can still be used as a platform for watching your favorite movies on physical media.
Do you still have your PS3 connected to your TV? 😉
