a short distance from the (re) release of Final Fantasy VII Remake in its Intergrade version enriched with two additional chapters, Square Enix is strengthening its communication, and today chooses to play the joker card by invoking the character designer from the original version: the unmistakable Tetsuya Nomura.

It is through the intermediary of PlayStation Blog French that the director of the most anticipated remake in the industry returns to us, to explain what once guided his choices during the development of the famous band of adventurers who set out to pursue it by a certain Sephiroth. But because Final Fantasy VII Remake has always intended to draw on the compilation of the same Roman numeral, Father Nomura obviously had fun sending back other opus:
I wasn’t necessarily looking to pay homage, but I did wish Yuffie to appear for the first time in disguise. I remembered that she was dressed like this in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and wanted to give her a similar style. It’s the same with Weiss, I chose him because he’s a powerful enemy, and he’s not Sephiroth.
Yuffie, I got it
But the more observant among you might be wondering why this ugly matria thief was finally chosen to be on the menu of the INTERmission EPISODE (according to the official Square Enix spelling, your servant’s keyboard is doing so well, Thanks for him). those who have since forgotten the timeline of Final Fantasy VII, Nomura wants to be unbeatable:
The overall plot follows that of the original title, so considering the timeline, Vincent is still asleep and Cid is on Shinra’s side. Yuffie was therefore the only one able to move freely.
CQFD as the other would say. Some will argue that Nanaki would have deserved even a little bit of the spotlight, but who are we to judge? You, on the other hand, dear readers, are obviously quite willing to do so in the comments below.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will extend Midgar’s visit to June 10 next, on PlayStation 5.
