The more time passes, the more smartphone manufacturers are eager to offer more and more innovative solutions to offer a larger screen-to-size ratio for their new models.. In doing so, we must find a way to get rid of the front photo sensor, which always takes up a pesky place on the screen. So some have thought of the motorized photo sensors on the top edge, which appear when you need to use them. But this is not the optimal solution. Others have imagined a punch sensor, which takes up a little less space: another not yet optimal solution. The optimal situation, it is however before our eyes: it is about a photo sensor arranged under the screen of the smartphone. A technology that already exists, but which has not yet been established on the market with the general public. But it will not be long !
We know that Samsung is preparing such a sensor for its next foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. But the South Korean firm is not the only one interested in the technology. Google would also think of using it for a future model of Google pixel. At least this is indicated by a patent filed by the American giant, which can be found in the photo above. Be careful, however, this technology will not be used in the next Google Pixel 6 and 6 XL: various renderings have already indicated that they will benefit from a photo sensor in punch. Nevertheless, one can perhaps expect something of the kind for the next models, namely the Google Pixel 7.
