However, the community has shown acceptance for the previous PlayStation exclusive.
That PlayStation decides to bring its games to PC is great news: it is not just that more people can play this or that work, but it is also a great opportunity to show the publisher that there really is an audience interested in their products. The latest title to receive that treatment is Days Gone, from Bend Studio, which debuted on PS4 in 2019 and hit the PC just a few weeks ago. How did this version fare?
It is difficult to know your exact sales, but with the help of Steam Charts at least it is possible keep a pretty rough account of your activity on the Valve platform. According to the graphs, since its launch there has been a 27,380 player peak. Not bad, although well below the 49,582 simultaneous players who enjoyed Horizon: Zero Dawn upon its arrival on Steam back in August 2020. Interestingly, the average activity was quite similar in both cases, somewhat above 16,000.
91% of Days Gone user reviews on Steam are positive That it has slightly lower activity numbers does not necessarily mean that it has had a bad reception, actually: the Days Gone tab on Steam shows that 91% of the 4410 user reviews published at the time of writing these lines are positive – although the game went through some controversy over its data policy – while Horizon has almost 38,000 reviews of which “only” 80% are positive.
That one had optimization problems on a good variety of hardware initially, so the reviews have improved as updates have arrived and in the last month it has registered 91% positive reviews. While Guerrilla works on Horizon: Forbidden West for PS5 and PS4, from Bend Studio they ask players to buy Days Gone on PC so that Sony will pay attention to the demand and decide to work on one sequel, something that is hanging by a thread right now.
