While episode 3 of The Bad Batch revealed the many enemies of Clone Force 99, the fourth episode of the Disney + series has come to add another! Indeed, forced to find provisions but wishing to escape the imperial forces, Hunter’s group will eventually become the target of a bounty hunter commissioned by who knows who, to get their hands on Omega. An incredible chase in the air will follow between Hunter and his new opponent. It is also on this element that the strength of this episode will be based, The Bad Batch giving us a good dose of action.
Although the previous episodes were no exception to the rule, the duel between Hunter and Fennec is interesting and allows you to move away from classic blaster clashes. Beside that, episode 4 of The Bad Batch was also an opportunity to highlight once again the solidarity of the group and more particularly the relationship between father and daughter of Hunter with Omega. Here, the clone seems ready to do anything to protect the girl from Kamino, a spring that recalls the dynamic developed in the series The Mandalorian between Bébé Yoda and Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal).
The Star Wars universe seems very attached to this theme, especially since spectators are also waiting to discover the new capabilities of Omega. For the time being, The Bad Batch endeavored to portray her in a naïve way. A trait that is reminiscent of Grogu’s apprehension in Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau’s live-action show. If it is a safe bet that the heroine should reveal her secrets to us in the next episodes – Omega is certainly sought after for its extraordinary assets – the former have above all offered a thorough characterization of the characters. A writing effort that today has difficulty convincing due to the repeated construction of each episode.
With The Bad Batch, Lucasfilm and Disney take their time. If this can represent a considerable advantage for a short format such as the one advocated by Disney +, it is clear that this scheme can also tend to lose our interest. The common thread of the series takes a long time to put in place. Although the outcome of episode 4 is interesting and offers an intriguing denouement that may ultimately favor the underlying plot of the series, the story today deserves to accelerate. So let’s hope that the next episodes of The Bad Batch will be able to hold this bet! Episode 5 of the Disney + series is expected on May 28. In the meantime, do you think Crosshair will switch back to Clone Force 99?
