Jackson makes a radical decision in the new episode of season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy.
First and foremost, watch out for spoilers on Episode 14 if you haven’t seen it yet. Some fans suspected it and their theories have been confirmed, Jesse Williams is definitely leaving Grey’s Anatomy following the decision his character Jackson makes in the latest episode aired recently on ABC. The whole episode is split between two key people for Jackson: his ex-wife and mother of daughter April, and his father.. It is with a visit to his father that Jackson begins, in order to ask him the questions that have been bothering him for a while, and one thing stands out more than the others in these exchanges.
In the midst of the usual platitudes uttered by the parent who abandons his child, this dialogue is above all the opportunity for Jesse Williams to show a particularly vulnerable side of Jackson that we have had very little opportunity to see. In any case, this is what we decide to retain rather than focusing too much on the complaints of two clearly financially comfortable heirs who dream of living in a cabin in the woods. While Jackson’s motivations for what he wants to do with his life are quite legitimate, it’s hard not to roll your eyes when hearing the 2 men complain about the family fortune and the responsibilities that come with it.
Next to this father-son reunion, Jackson then goes to April to tell him that he wants to take the head of the Avery foundation in Boston to effect real changes in the world. A noble decision that fits perfectly with Jackson’s character, but which therefore means his final departure from Seattle. Something he does not plan to do without April and Harriet, which therefore leads the former couple into a tense discussion that ends up falling on Jackson’s side. We take the opportunity to learn that Matthew and April are separated, and in less time than it takes to say it, the writers reopen the door to the couple “Japril” and their “new horizon”.
Without officially putting them back together, the writers clearly leave the possibility that Jackson and April have finally found a good timing, and take advantage of their life together in Boston to start afresh. After Arizona joins Callie in New York City, it could be that several darling couples from Grey’s Anatomy are therefore reforming in the imagination of the fans. We regret, however, that April’s return is so brief since we were particularly happy to see Sarah Drew again in her role. Even though ABC has yet to make a decision on a possible Season 18, a lot of elements of Season 17 feel the end and the departure of Jesse Williams could ultimately tip the scales in favor of cancellation.
