Next time we see Guardians of the Galaxy again in the MCU they’ll be alongside the God of Thunder in Thor 4, Love and Thunder. The dysfunctional and endearing team of heroes will then be back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, the third installment of their solo adventures which could also be the last. At least that is what recent comments by James gunn, the director of the franchise. When a fan asked him on Twitter if the feature film will be the last or if a fourth film will be released, he replied. “I planned this to be my last.”
James Gunn has in the past repeatedly confessed to not planning a fourth film, mentioning that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be his last. A decision that would have been taken a long time since the director previously explained on his Instagram account, still in response to fans, that he had planned to make a trilogy from the beginning. As for the Star-Lord gang, she too could bow out after this last film. Interviewed by Digital Spy Magazine, Dave Bautista alias Drax has indeed confided that this third opus will probably be the last for his character. A few years will nevertheless pass before the group says goodbye since the official release date of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was announced, and it’s not for soon. Added to this is the release of a Christmas movie, and a series on Groot.
