The game from the Ratchet & Clank studio debuted in 2014 as an Xbox exclusive, later available on PC.
The world of acquisitions and the purchase of studies always leaves us with very curious pictures for the medium. Facts like the PS5 exclusive Deathloop is owned by Microsoft, or that, conversely, one of the best Xbox One exclusive games be from a Sony studio. We are talking, of course, about Sunset Overdrive, the crazy open world shooter from Insomniac Games that debuted on Microsoft’s console in 2014 when the study was independent.
And we talk about this adventure because, today, PlayStation has renewed the Sunset Overdrive brand at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It is a simple brand extension to demonstrate that it is still in use and not lose its possession, as well indicated documents published by said agency. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating a possible Sunset Overdrive for PS4 and PS5.
Remember that, although Sunset Overdrive was published as an exclusive Xbox One game, the license belongs to Insomniac Games, a company that became part of PlayStation Studios in 2019. Beyond Xbox One, the adventure debuted years later in the computers, and is available on PC since 2018 Will Sunset Overdrive come to PlayStation? Or, as your record seems to point out, is this a mere formality?
Ratchet & Clank coming to PS5 in June
At the moment, what we know is that Insomniac Games is focused on the development of Ratchet and Clank: A Dimension Apart, his new adventure that will be available on PlayStation 5 in a month, on June 11. In fact, last week the promotional campaign for the title began, first with a gameplay trailer full of details, and later with the broadcast of an extended gameplay of Ratchet and Clank as part of the last State of Play. While waiting to know the future of the study, we leave you with the analysis of Sunset Overdrive.
