The game is due out in the final quarter of 2021 and will launch on next-gen PC and consoles.
This afternoon Activision confirmed, during its recent shareholders meeting, which this year we will also see a new installment of his successful Call of Duty series. Although for many this announcement was more than obvious, what surprised everyone was knowing who is the studio behind this new game, and it is neither more nor less than the Sledgehammer Games team.
The company confirmed that this new chapter of CoD will be launched during the last quarter of 2021 (between the months of October and December), on a date yet to be announced. Similarly and although the name that the game will bear or the historical moment it will address was not revealed, it was announced that this project will have its own campaign and multiplayer and cooperative modes, as well as that it is being developed to integrate and improve the game. current ecosystem of the franchise.
The new Call of Duty will be released later this year for Next-Gen consoles and PC.It should be noted that Activision executives themselves confirmed that the game is being created for next-generation consoles and PCs. This confirms that this CoD will reach both PS5 and Xbox Series, but it is still unknown if we will see it arrive equally on PS4 or Xbox One.
The last time Sledgehammer Games took over the series was with Call of Duty: WWII which came out in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Since then the studio has collaborated in the development of Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War, although now they will take the lead in the project. It is also unknown if the studio will begin to collaborate in parallel with Warzone, the popular Battle Royale of the series, in order to couple both projects once they are on the market.
For now, the only thing left will be to wait for future announcements about this new Call of Duty and in which details about its history and setting are confirmed. However, for a few weeks now there have been rumors that indicate that this game would be placed again in the Second World War.
Call of Duty, Activision’s main source of income.
Within the same meeting, Activision announced that up to 72% of its income derived from the incredible performance of the Call of Duty series, more specifically from the Black Ops Cold War, Warzone and Mobile games. Against this background, it is not strange to know that the company is focusing a large part of its resources on the franchise and its current games, as happened a few days ago when it emerged that the Toys For Bob team, responsible for the recent games of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, went on to work on content for the third season of Warzone.
