For his first version of Justice League, Zack Snyder had planned a surprise romance between Batman and Lois Lane.
In an interview with Vanity Fair to talk about his Snyder Cut from Justice League, and especially from his experience with the Warner, Zack Snyder has made many revelations behind the scenes of his version. He notably revealed that the studios had rejected some of his ideas, including a romance between Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane. “The intention was for Bruce to fall in love with Lois and realize that the only way to save the world is to bring Superman back to life. […] We had this beautiful speech during which he said to Alfred ‘I never had a life outside the Batcave. I never imagined there was a world for me outside of all of this, but this woman makes me think that if I can get this bunch of gods together, then my job is done. I can stop. ‘ And of course, it didn’t go well for him. ” explains the director.
However, during the sequence of the Knightmare in Batman v superman, the latter is very upset against Bruce and tells him “She was my world and you took her from me”, referring to Lois. When Gotham’s vigilante awakens from his nightmare he next sees Flash, who travels through time and tells him that the reporter is the key. Could these elements ultimately be related to the romance between Batman and Superman’s fiancée? It’s hard to imagine the superhero killing Bruce just out of jealousy, unless he’s controlled by Darkseid. In the original idea of Zack Snyder it was Lois, however, who ultimately convinced Bruce to form the Justice League, making her the key to the superhero group’s arrival. The Snyder Cut of Justice League, in which Batman could survive the Knightmares, will undoubtedly clarify this detail.
