A Surfshark study ranks Epic Games’ game above Overwatch, the next with the most cheats.
Fortnite is the game with the most cheats right now. We don’t say it, it says it Surfshark, a cybersecurity agency that has conducted A study on the use of cheats in today’s multiplayer games. Analyzing search data taken from Google and YouTube, this agency has identified the online games with the most cheats, and the countries with the highest density of cheats, to make them known. Data that does not make the game of Epic games.
In total, the videos about cheating in Fortnite accumulate almost 27 million visits. Most focused on the (sadly) typical aimbots, automatic targeting bots; but also with many players who are interested in cheats such as wallhacks, those traps that allow you to see through walls to get an obvious advantage. This is almost triple visits than those accumulated by tutorials and cheat announcements focused on Overwatch, the second most cheating game according to the study. And closes the Counter Strike: Global Offensive podium.
Regarding the countries, Sweden is the nation with the most cheats of the world: “According to the figures, Sweden has the title of ‘World Champion’ of cheating, with USA and Australia tied in second place, “the agency explains.” Sweden is known for its excellence in eSports, but it is important to note that eSports are considered relatively cheat-free. Perhaps the cheating masses in Sweden are simply trying to emulate the skills of your local idols“.
Hacks pose a vulnerability
An aimbot has the same goal as malwareSurfsharkNow, why is it important for a cybersecurity agency to know this data? As you can imagine, any hack of these supposes a vulnerability that can be exploited: “A hacker capable of developing a trap also has the skills to create malware. An aimbot, in fact, has the same goal as malware: attack without being detected. The UK’s National Crime Agency states that players who participate in cheat websites to learn about the subject, tend to progress to cybercrimes“.
“And in the end, nobody wants to play a game where everyone else cheats “, concludes the report. We will see if Epic Games put the batteries to stop cheating in Fortnite, and take note of other battle royales such as Free Fire, which banned more than 30 million players in 2020 for these reasons.Of course, these viewing figures are also a sign of the game’s popularity today, with Fortnite posting its best player and revenue figures in more than a year and a half in December.
