The Crystal Dynamics game will be available as a free upgrade for those who purchased it in the last generation.
Marvel’s Avengers is coming to the next generation of consoles next month. The game of Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix delayed its launch of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X to the end of 2020, but this month we have known its new date along with the arrival of Hawkeye. And with that, your editor begins to provide more details about the next generation improvements that we will see on one of its platforms. On PS5, to be exact.
Native 4K in ‘4K mode’, rescaled in ‘performance mode’Through Twitter, the game’s official account details the Marvel’s Avengers improvements on PS5 with an infographic that collects all these elements, and compares them with its backward compatible version. The first thing that jumps out is that users will be able to play Native 4K on PS5, though only in “4K mode” That prioritizes resolution, of course. At “performance mode”, the game will run at 60 fps and 4K rescaled. Regardless of its modes, the PS5 version will offer “significantly faster loading times” compared to those present in the PS4 versions.
And of course, Square Enix promises far superior overall quality in this next-gen version. The infographic talks about higher resolution textures, of improvements in the anisotropic filtering, in the environmental occlusion and in the reflections, or also of “heroics and improved armor destruction“with respect to PS4. Likewise, Marvel’s Avengers on PS5 will feature spatial audio to get players into their action like never before.
All these are improvements which, presumably, will also be present in the Xbox Series versions, although PlayStation users will have an exclusive function: the game will make use of the haptic response of the DualSense controller from PS5.
Marvel’s Avengers date for PS5 and Xbox Series
After debuting on the last generation of consoles in September, Marvel’s Avengers will jump into the new era next month: On March 18th, to be exact. The new generation version will be available as a free upgrade for those who already own the game on PS4 or Xbox One, and it will debut at the same time as the new Hawkeye DLC. If you have not yet dared with this superhero adventure, with cooperative components, we invite you to review its qualities in our analysis of Marvel’s Avengers.
