The Half Life expansion was created by Gearbox and came out in 2001.
The strength of the community can be enormous at times. The mythical and beloved Half-Life saga has some unconditional fans and as you surely know, Crowbar Collective developed a remake from the first fully Valve-approved Half-Life, the Black Mesa game. This title was highly applauded by the community when it came out in 2020 and there’s a huge huge job behind it.
Black Mesa: Blue Shift will be free and will use Black Mesa resourcesWell, good news. Another group of fans has decided to embark on the development of the remake of one of the expansions of Half-Life, Blue shift. This content was created in its day by Gearbox Software, company that has created Borderlands and that, in addition, was recently bought by Embracer Group. HECU Collective is the group of fans behind this new remake.
This new project, called Black Mesa: Blue Shift, will be free according to its creators and will use the resources of Black Mesa. It will also continue with the style marked by that remake and will be released in multiple episodes, so if you want to play it whole, you will still have to wait longer. At the moment, there are screenshots and a video uploaded to YouTube of a song from the original soundtrack of the remake.
Although there is no release date for this project, we do know that soon a demo will be released for the fans to try it and value the work of its creators, something that seems to be very important to them, for what they have commented. They want the community to evaluate their work to see if they can continue with the project and they intend to count on the community to develop it.
The original Blue Shift was launched in 2001 and will mark the 20th anniversary of its release in June. Last year was a Great year for Half-Life fans, with the release of the great Half-Life Alyx, a video game that seemed like a true masterpiece and a reason to jump into virtual reality.
