Resident Evil 4, Diablo 3 or Duke Nukem Forever are some of the examples.
It is clear that when a studio announces a new video game we hope it comes out as soon as possible to live a new adventure, but sometimes the developments take longer than we think. After all, although it may annoy us momentarily, it is better that a game is delayed and takes enough time to create so that when it comes out be the work that we all hope.
Although it may annoy us, it is better for a game to be delayed and go as well as possibleA recent case of this change of plans has been Halo Infinite, which was delayed until fall 2021, in a tough decision but that Phil Spencer himself called correct. Of course, sometimes the developments extend over time for problems in the study or because the plans with the game they change while it is being created. There are all kinds of circumstances that can delay a game.
We have also now attended a new delay from Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the Paradox Interactive video game. We do not know if this title could enter in the future in a list similar to the one that we bring you this time, but the development seems that it’s still going to get longer. The creators have been removed from the project and the game will not be released in 2021 either.
In 3D Games we have decided to collect Some of the longest developments in history and we have selected 10 video games that have been at least 6 years in development. Eye here not all are which are, because the list would be very extensive. We have left out, to name a couple more, Mafia 2 (took 6 years) and Darkfall Online (It took 8 years to come out).
The list has games that were a success when they came out, despite the delay, and others that were be a disappointment. Longer doesn’t always have to mean better quality, and here are some great examples of this. By the way, in the current situation of pandemic caused by the coronavirus we have to get used to the developments they are going to lengthen and in a special we tell you the problems and possible solutions to create games in this new reality.
