The work of the new logistics center international of Post office “Rampa 7”, located at the Madrid-Barajas “Adolfo Suárez” airport, is progressing at a good pace according to planned planning. Currently, the warehouse is already closed and work on the roof and the execution of other facilities are beginning.
With an investment in the work close to 14 million euros, the new logistics center “Rampa 7” will occupy a total area of 12,500 mtwo that will be dedicated entirely to international import mail. It will be equipped with the latest technology for cargo management, classification, tracking and control of shipments.
These new facilities will allow the current International Post Treatment Center in Barajas move to exclusively deal with export operations and national urgent exchange, which will result in greater agility in the management of all orders.
“Rampa 7” is a strategic project for the future of the international logistics of Correos, since it will improve the efficiency in the management of goods and parcels at the “Adolfo Suárez” Madrid-Barajas Airport, at a time when the pandemic has highlighted the importance and relevance of the logistics sector as an essential channel to provide to society, not only of basic necessities, but also of articles related to leisure, training or work for citizens.
With the reinforcement of its logistics network and this investment in infrastructure, Correos also anticipates the foreseeable increase in international business in the coming years, in accordance with their strategic lines that consider internationalization as a fundamental lever for the future of the Company and the recovery of the Spanish economy.
In all these plans, the new “Rampa 7” facilities will play a fundamental role due to their impact on the international logistics capacity of Correos. The forecast is that the work will be finished by the end of this year. The equipment and commissioning will then proceed, scheduled for mid-2022.
