If you are a lover of best action cinema contemporary, maybe you need to take a seat and have a glass of water handy, because Netflix just announced a project that just automatically ranked number one in my filmmaking priorities: it’s titled ‘Havoc’It will be written, directed and produced by Gareth Evans, and will feature none other than Tom Hardy in the title role.
According to Deadline, the feature film is part of the agreement that the person in charge of those two martial arts cinema cathedrals entitled ‘The Raid’ and ‘The Raid 2: Berandal’ has signed with the streaming giant, and that it will keep him busy producing and making films for the studio for the next several years.
‘Havoc’ will be co-produced by the always interesting XYZ Films, One More Productions and by Severn Screen via Ed talfan, who already worked with Evans on the wild fifth episode of the equally fantastic ‘Gangs of London’ and on ‘The Apostle’, Evans’ first Netflix production starring Dan Stevens.
At the moment, no more details or potential dates for the start of production of the film have been disclosed. What we do know is that your story will be set after a drug sale goes wrong, and will follow the story of a detective who must fight through the criminal underworld to rescue the son of a politician while discovering a network of corruption and conspiracy that affects the entire city. Music for my ears.
