The recent release of a new and overwhelming trailer for ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ has served to remind us that there is little more than a month left to see what promises to be the definitive version of that story. Surely some still hoped for the return of Zack snyder to the DC Extended Universe beyond this movie, but the director himself has made it clear how unlikely that seems.
Snyder has recently participated in the podcast ‘I Minutemen’, where it was inevitable that he would be asked about ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ and the future beyond it. The filmmaker could not be more clearly commented than from Warner have not shown the slightest interest in a second installment directed by him:
The truth is that, as far as I know, there is no interest or desire to do more of these films on the part of Warner. With me in front, at least. But by doing this, you could end the movie correctly. I did my best when it came to creating the Justice League, bringing all these different personalities together. That idea, that’s what the movie is about.
A larger universe
Now the question is in knowing if the end of ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ leaves the door open to a sequel. Remember that the version released in theaters had a post-credits scene bringing together several villains from this universe that finally came to nothing. In this regard, Snyder is somewhat more cryptic, commenting on the following:
There is a suggestion on how to continue in the film, that what would be inside these films, a greater universe that is still out there.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League to premiere on HBO next March 18th.
