If the presence of the Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor 4 has been confirmed, is it a good thing that these MCU characters only have a minor role in the film?
Thor 4 might just be the most defining movie in the God of Thunder franchise. And for good reason, we will discover the transformation of Jane Foster into Mighty Thor, Lady Sif will make her comeback and Valkyrie will become the queen of Asgard. As a bonus, the character played by Chris Hemsworth will have to rub shoulders with one of his most formidable enemies in comics: Gorr the Slayer of the Gods. Perhaps that is why he will seek help from the Guardians of the Galaxy, with the character introduction confirmed to the storyline. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and Kraglin (Sean Gunn) have been observed on film sets in Australia and the performers of Mantis and Nebula have already finished their shots. What strongly imagine that the Guardians of the Galaxy will have minor roles within Thor 4: Love and Thunder, is it a good idea on the part of Taika Waititi ?
If some are already enthusiastic at the idea of seeing the God of Thunder alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, the director does well to present them as secondary characters within the plot. And for good reason, the scenario of Thor 4 already has tons of stories to explore: the establishment of Valkyrie, the transformation of Jane Foster, the development of the God of Thunder after his complicated time in Avengers: Endgame… With so many storylines to deal with, putting the Guardians of the Galaxy front and center risks blurring the main story’s message. We can hope that after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios will decide to create an entire movie centered around Thor and the Guardians headliners! While waiting to learn more, check out the latest news on the role of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) in Thor 4.
