Katsuhiro Harada mentioned that whether or not there is a sequel to Pokkén Tournament is a decision of Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
Pokkén Tournament was one of those games that made a dream come true that many fans had to see a title in which the famous pocket monsters fight hand-to-hand, leaving aside the traditional turn-based role-playing format that characterizes the main series. Its impact and success was such that it managed to make the leap from Wii U to the Switch and even received a large amount of additional content after its departure. With such a profile, many would think that launching a sequel would be the obvious next step; however, according to the game’s translator, this seems like a difficult thing to happen.
Through its official Twitter account the dear Katushiro harada, producer of the game and responsible for the series of fights Tekken, said he would be fascinated to be able to work on a hypothetical Pokkén Tournament 2. But to his misfortune (and that of many fans), the decision does not depend on him but on Nintendo and The Pokémon Company that, at the end of the day, they own the intellectual property.
That said, Harada mentions that has an excellent relationship with both companies. Obvious by this does not mean that you can interfere in the decisions of the companies, but at least with this it is clear to us that if you decide to propose a project as such, your word could be taken seriously into consideration.
Harada works on an ambitious project
Harada-san may be interested in going back to work in a fighting game of Pokemon. However, if you decide to carry it out, it will be a long time before we know about it. We say this since currently the creative is still working on the creation of downloadable content for Tekken 7, as well as on a secret project that, he considers, is the most expensive project in the history of Bandai Namco.
