The Shelbys will return not only in a Peaky Blinders movie but also in one or more series.
While you were recently told that a Peaky Blinders spin-off is already under discussion to bring the Shelbys back after the film announced by Steven Knight, it is already time to look into what the spin-off is in question could relate. The showrunner of the series explained that he didn’t necessarily want to call it a “spin-off”, but that the Shelbys are set to return to television after the film that will close the adventures of Tommy and the main series, whose season 7 was canceled due to the coronavirus. In terms of history, since Peaky blinders expected to end just before WWII, and as its cast is significant, the possibilities are plentiful.
The spin-off of Peaky blinders could indeed take a more global turn and focus on World War II and the effects it will have on the entire Shelby clan and their business. It is not yet known if Tommy will survive until the end of Season 6 of Peaky Blinders, or until the end of the film that will follow. If it’s not the case, other family members could come to the fore and this would see Ava, Polly or Arthur without Tommy telling them what to do, trying to run their business in a particularly complicated historical time.
If the spin-off is interested in the same family, we imagine in any case that several characters should return since the Shelbys have always been united whatever the circumstances – and despite their differences. Unless, of course, season 6 and then the film completely redistributes the cards by killing a large part of the family and leaving only one or 2 survivors. It could also be that the spin-off takes place several years later, to tell the life of Tommy Shelby’s children.. This would make it possible to renew the series while having a concrete link with the one that the fans followed. All that remains is to continue to speculate while waiting for the last season on the BBC and new info.
