The Disney + WandaVision series may have teased the aftermath of Thanos’ snap in Avengers Infinity War as well as its future significance for Phase 4 of the MCU.
MCU Phase 4 has just opened with WandaVision, the Disney + series which marked the return of the superhero couple in a creation as funny as it is magical. A unique project inspired by many sitcoms that still fits into the vast universe that the MCU represents. Through unpublished clues and other easter eggs, the show carried by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany has indeed forged several links with previous Marvel adaptations, whether through the symbol of the Hydra on the watch, the Stark Industries brand on the toaster or vis-à-vis the Thanos snap via a particularly glaring scene between Wanda and her new neighbor, Agnes.
During the first episode of WandaVision, the character played by Kathryn Hahn tries to help the Scarlet Witch prepare a meal in order to impress her husband’s boss, Vision. While the two neighbors are busy in the kitchen, Agnès reassures Wanda by telling her that the preparation will be ready in a snap of the fingers, at the same time imitating the famous gesture. If in another context this expression would not have caught our attention, it is clear that this scene was intended here to recall the importance of the Thanos snap in Avengers: Infinity war in relation to Wanda’s life and more generally to teaser the repercussions that it will have on Phase 4 of the MCU. Through the mourning and trauma experienced by the Scarlet Witch in the next episodes, it is certain that several allusions will still be made to the fateful snap of the Mad Titan’s fingers, as will the consequences. from Avengers: Infinity War will also be depicted in Spider-Man 3, a shooting video giving a glimpse into the post-Thanos world. Clues that prove in short that the consequences of the snap will be further explored in future MCU films and series …
