Indeed, this famous symbol worn by supporters of Voldemort would have a link with The Chamber of Secrets. We owe this theory in particular to a user Reddit who more precisely identified a similarity between the staging of the second part of the saga Harry Potter, when basil first makes its appearance, and the Death Eater mark.
As Harry tries to save Ginny Weasley, the giant snake dramatically slides out of the statue’s mouth, much like the snake present on the Dark Mark. A strong and frightening image that you can (re) discover above which therefore represents an obvious reference to the emblem of darkness and to the followers of the One-Of-One-Must-Not-Pronounce-The-Name. It would therefore not be surprising that Tom Riddle was inspired by such an emblem, the emergence of the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets also being the symbol of his own ability to understand and speak Parseltongue. Moreover, being the descendant of Salazar Slytherin, Voldemort could have used all the symbolism and imagery around his ancestor, the green color of the Dark Mark not being a random choice either. Finally surprising details that few fans had noticed, the latter now hoping that JK Rowling confirms such an idea!
