Sales analysts count the consoles obtained by import and Nintendo beats PlayStation and Xbox.
Nintendo Switch sales are being a success around the world. Now, through Reuters, we have known the first data harvested by the Big N in China with its hybrid console. Have been distributed a million consoles in said territory since its arrival on the market in December 2019.
The data comes from information issued by Tencent, the largest company in the country, which handles the distribution of Nintendo Switch in China to expand its reach. According to these data, and as indicated by the consultancy Niko PartnersNintendo Switch thus surpasses Sony and Microsoft as the largest console seller in the country. The million sales is higher than the combined sales of PS4 and Xbox One in the same period, as pointed out by the analyst Daniel ahmad.
They estimate there are a total of 4 million Switches in China, counting imported unitsFrom Reuters they indicate that the trend of Switch in China has been upward. Initially, sales were depressed by the COVID-19 pandemic in China and that caused the number of games to be limited. Over the months and the success of Ring Fit Adventure, sales have multiplied. According to Ahmad, they estimate that by accounting for units imported to China through the “gray market” since 2017 (when Switch was launched in the rest of the territories) the total console base exceeds 4 million units, being the market leader there.
Ahmad himself also indicates that revenues from the console market in China will continue to grow, and produces an estimate of $ 2.15 billion in revenue by 2024; a figure that would double that obtained in 2019. It indicates that the success of Switch and the arrival of the next generation consoles will drive growth.
