  1. I wish more place had the fortitude to do this. We’d all have more pleasant experiences if assholes were thrown out instead of catered to.

  2. I’ve never really gotten why people are enamored with the bad-boy-tempermental-artist mystique popularized my MPW. I wouldn’t mind visiting a restaurant whose chef/owner is willing to kick out truly obnoxious guests who affect my dining experience. But what offenses is he talking about? Arriving a little late? Lol. You can even see him preening at the suggestion that he’s a bit harsh. It’s only sad that he hasn’t outgrown this by late middle age.

  3. Everyone in the comments that is turned off by Marco Pierre White’s attitude: read The Devil in the Kitchen, his memoir. You might still think he’s a pompous ass, but at least you’ll have a better understanding of why (also, the book is a good peek into the inner workings of Anglo-French haute-cuisine and rise of the celebrity chef in the 80’s)

  4. Seems like this guy is well off. I get it’s his passion, but what kind of life is this working there 18 hours a day, 6 days a week?

  5. I agree with him 100%. Rude and obnoxious people should be asked to leave and not come back.

However with all the “Influencers” in today’s world, along with the cancel culture. I’m afraid the results of throwing someone out would be bad for business anymore.

  6. To be honest you can’t call them “guests in your house”. They’re “customers” who pay, and pay a good chunk of money to eat your salad.

  7. He had a reality show a few years ago and this exact thing happened. A guy (maybe trying to impress his date) sent back his steak saying it wasn’t cooked correctly, he checked it and it was, he came out of the kitchen and threw him out.

  8. Isn’t this one of the guys who Gordon worked under? Pretty sure Marco would throw pans at him and he eventually had a mental breakdown

  9. I once heard a tale of an sycophantic diner who praised whatever the chef made in pretentious language, so the chef took a beer mat, marinated it in cognac, enfolded it in the lightest batter, sautéed it in French butter, and served it with whipped cream, finely grated dark chocolate, and a *jus* made of forest fruits (or something like that). When the diner made his usual florid, fancy remarks about the chef’s gastronomic expertise, the chef informed him he had just eaten a beer mat, and told him to fuck off out of his restaurant and never come back. No idea if it’s true but it’s an entertaining story.
