As a Christmas gift, Disney has decided to offer an official preview (a sneak peek) of no less than five minutes of ‘The Beatles: Get Back‘, the documentary about the group that Peter Jackson is preparing. A preview that we can see both on the official website of Liverpool and Disney +.
Jackson himself is the one who introduces the advance from the editing room warning that it is neither a trailer (which will arrive in 2021) nor a scene. Simply a small montage to see what material we are dealing with and that we will see in full in August 2021. The director of, among others, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ justifies this advance as a gift for fans:
“We wanted to give Beatles fans around the world a Christmas bonus, so we’ve put together this five-minute trailer for our theatrical movie ‘The Beatles: Get Back’. We hope it brings a smile to everyone’s face and some much-needed joy in these tough times. “
The filmmaker assures that they have more or less half of the film finished, that is built from 56 hours of unreleased video, shot in 1969 by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, and around 140 hours of audio recordings of the ‘Let it Be’ recording sessions, with a look at the famous concert on the roof of Apple’s London offices.
Disney also warns that at a later time it will release a restoration of ‘Let it Be’, the 1970 film.
