FESTIVAL OF MUSIC 2020. With the health crisis linked to the coronavirus, the Fête de la musique 2020 will not be the one we have known since 1982. Let us take stock of what is already planned.
[Updated on June 5 at 4:45 pm ] But what are we going to be able to do well on June 21? For the first time since its creation in 1982, the Fête de la musique as we know it will not take place, due to the health crisis linked to the coronavirus. With large gatherings of over 5,000 people canceled until September, event organizers across France will have to find alternative solutions. Online programming, television events … We take stock of what we know at this stage.
Among the already known initiatives taken to celebrate summer and music while respecting the safety instructions linked to the fight against the spread of Covid-19, that of France 2, which is preparing an event at the AccorHotels Arena, which will be broadcast live on June 19. The award, dubbed “All together for music”, will obviously take place without audience, but in the company of around forty artists. The next day, France 5 will take over with an evening dedicated to music, followed by France 3 on June 24, with a bonus, Symphony for life in the company of Renaud Capuçon, whose profits will be donated to caregivers.
“The idea is to bring together thirty artists in order to organize an evening in support of the rooms which cannot open at the moment and the festivals which are canceled this summer. There will be live obviously but also a certain number souvenir sequences of cult concerts in legendary halls and highlights, experienced in the biggest festivals in France and in French-speaking countries with which we are working to prepare this evening, “explains Alexandra Redde-Amiel, director France Télévisions entertainment.
The Music Festival 2020
The Fête de la Musique, which brings together thousands of people every year in France, but also in some 120 countries around the world, was not spared the health crisis linked to the coronavirus. For security reasons and to prevent the spread of Covid-19, all gatherings of more than 5,000 people were banned (at least) until September. Until then, meetings of more than ten people are prohibited in public places. Which, of course, would prevent any concert from taking place on June 21.
Since its creation by Jack Lang in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become over the years the unmissable event for curious people as well as artists, amateurs or confirmed. In 120 countries, this custom transforms the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, into a day of celebration each year. In Paris of course, but also in Lyon, Rennes, Marseille, Lille and many other cities in France and elsewhere, it will now be necessary to find alternatives to comply with safety instructions.
The date of the Music Festival
As every year, the Fête de la Musique 2020 must take place on June 21, even if this meeting will be a little special this year. Anyway, this date was not chosen at random, since it corresponds to the summer solstice, that is to say the first day of the summer season, the end of spring, but also the longest day of the year. It’s a great way to celebrate the arrival of good weather and to start the season of evenings made this year of social distancing!
The Music Festival in Paris
If the Fête de la Musique takes place every year in hundreds of cities in France, in Paris, dozens of streets are occupied by walkers and artists. But what will happen this year, shaken by the health crisis? Asked on the subject on France Inter, Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, had given some leads last May 26: “Obviously, we will not make the Fête de la musique as usual. We made recommendations to the Council of defense for a certain number of proposed music festival models for spring, depending on what we want to do in terms of controlling the epidemic. But what is certain is that celebrate the music “, started the minister, adding:” Is it is in a very reduced format only from our balconies or digitally? Or will we be able to go further with a few concerts organized in conjunction with the mayors and prefects in the territories, respecting of course all these instructions? Will we organize flagship events that will honor the musicians, artists and authors of our country who are great? Of course it will not be the same model as usual. “The ministry should soon communicate on the subject. honor the musicians, artists, authors of our country who are great? It is sure that it will not be the same model as usual. “The ministry should soon communicate on the subject. honor the musicians, artists, authors of our country who are great?
